A MTV divulgou nesta terça-feira, 25, os indicados 34ª edição do VMA (Video Music Awards), que acontece no dia 27 de agosto, na Califórnia, com transmissão ao vivo para o Brasil a partir das 21h. Com oito indicações, Kendrick Lamar lidera a lista, seguido por The Weeknd e Katy Perry, com cinco cada um. Bruno Mars, DJ Khaled, Alessia Cara e Ed Sheeran também estão entre os destaques.

Atendendo ao público e as tendências pela retirada de gêneros, em 2017, a as categorias antes conhecidas por "Melhor Clipe Feminino" e "Melhor Clipe Masculino" foram combinadas em apenas uma, "Artista do Ano". Além disso, "Melhor Luta contra o Sistema" foi adicionada para celebrar videoclipes que inspirem os espectadores a se posicionarem contra injustiças.
